Calculation method

How the estimate is built.

The bed area multiplied by mulch depth gives cubic feet. We convert that to bulk cubic yards and separately round bagged mulch up to full bags for easy price comparison.

Field notes

Use the estimate well.

01

Two to three inches is common for fresh mulch; use less if you are topping up an existing bed.

02

Keep mulch a few inches away from trunks, stems, siding, and weep holes.

03

Bulk delivery is often cheaper for larger beds, while bags can be easier for small touch-ups.
